A Functional Micro Brewery for Live Shoots
Designing a fully functional, “classic West Coast” microbrewery, in an already existing warehouse, as a film set, provided many opportunities for creative problem-solving and required careful coordination between departments and contracted sub-trades. The brewery was built atop a deck, allowing us to run draft lines, electrical, and plumbing, including an 8’ long trough drain, underneath the floor, so the entire set could be hosed down after each messy brew session. Custom soundproofing and lighting were designed and built in-house so that presenters always looked and sounded their best.

Heavyweight automatic hydraulic legs were installed onto 16’ long live edge bar, allowing it to adjust from bar height to a working counter height, while keeping the framing identical for different presenters and brewers. Flexible draft lines and gliding, pressure fit drain fittings were used to allow the plumbing to adjust automatically as the bar raised and lowered.
